J.B. Ford Scrapping Begins

More than five years after she was towed across the harbor to the Azcon scrapyard in Duluth, demolition work has begun on the J.B. Ford in Duluth. So far, cutting has progressed through the engine and boiler rooms and after cargo hold, down to the tops of the side tanks. Sadly, her historic triple-expansion steam engine was not saved, despite early rumors that it would be.
